about

Hope's new 16-song album, Life Inside The Body, was recorded over a 2 year span at Pop Heart Studio with bandmate & engineer, Suny Lyons (PacificUV, Lovers). The album is awash with twang & harmony, and continues to deliver Hope’s dreamy & understated indie-folk sound. There are long slow burners, short ditties, and sparse a capella numbers. Their fabulously infamous pals sat in on several numbers: Heather McIntosh (of Elf Power, Japancakes), Jeremy Wheatley (of Crooked Fingers) , Thayer Sarrano (of T. Hardy Morris, Of Montreal), Jojo Glidewell (of The Modern Skirts), and many more!
The album is released under the loving umbrella of Athens, GA label, Mazarine Records.

Praise for "Life Inside The Body".....

THE NEW YORKER.... "Hope for Agoldensummer, one of the warmest and most appealing groups to emerge from the musically fertile town of Athens, Georgia, just released its fourth album, “Life Inside the Body.” The group, founded a decade ago by two sisters, Claire and Page Campbell, has gone through numerous lineup changes, but the sound has always centered on the sisters’ arrestingly beautiful and gentle vocal harmonies. The new record, its best yet, is highlighted by gems like “Daniel Bloom,” a love letter to a departed boyfriend, set in a laid-back Southern tempo and punctuated by ethereal Moog-synthesizer lines."

WXPN.... "The album is an exquisite collection of gorgeous new indie-folk—perfect for front porch hangin’, late night drivin’ and early morning rising. "

SOME VELVET BLOG...."The Campbell siblings harmonize with warmth and ease and the pace is just, well, pretty damn sweet. Hope for agoldensummer; in some ways we all do. This record will get us a lot closer to it."

STOMP & STAMMER.... "Languid and lingering like summer’s Southern humidity, their simple musical approach and stirring harmonies evoke a strange if comforting ambiance, as if the songs are being carried by wind from a front porch a field away. ...from my perspective it’s the most satisfying recording they’ve made yet. "

NAVY BLACK.... "The Campbell sisters shape their voices around space, somewhere between Appalachian ballads and something else. Something that just comes from being sisters and singing together out of childhood, through long car rides and into a career on stages and in concert halls... There’s a sense that the album is a collection of snapshots and intensity — that of emotion or quirky impact or artistic expression — matters far more than any verse-chorus-verse formula. There’s a sense that even the heavy songs were born of a joy of creating, playing and signing. “Secret Song” nods to burlesque, “Corn maze” is a comic romp with a three part harmony.... And still. The album feels complete. It feels lived in and authentic. It’s lavish yet spare, it’s orchestrated yet folky, it’s quirky yet weighty, it shines through its own avant-garde leanings, poetic yet lean and straightforward. It’s an album that says exactly what it came to say."

PHILADELPHIA CITY PAPER.... "Friends and lovers come and go, but our affection for them never fades. At least that's how it goes in the sensuous, sincere songs of Hope for Agoldensummer... "Daniel Bloom" is a peace offering to one former flame, with the Campbells' gentle strum-and-drum work and gentler harmonies serving to soothe the sting of betrayal. But other song titles — among them "Come On," "Come Back" and "Come Over" — hint at the perambulations of hearts that can neither stay in one place nor stay away once they've strayed. "

FAME.... "Everything about his music is fairly simple in its groundfeet but floats in a wistful bliss of gauzily warm fogs and diffused sunlight rapidly pulling the listener in, becoming haunting. "

TIMES FREE PRESS.... "...voices intertwine in hauntingly beautiful harmony..."

FLAGPOLE.... "... two voices, complementing one another, harmonizing, at times in synch and at other swirling around one another. Otters playing."

about

Hope For Agoldensummer Athens, Georgia

Hope is a family band, living and working in the fine town of Athens, GA. For eons they’ve traveled the USA creating rusty, angelic melodies with a slide guitar, banjo, jangly percussion, glockenspiel, and a bowed handsaw, all overlaid with the gorgeous sibling harmonies of Claire & Page Campbell. ... more
